Some time ago I discovered something profound. Who I am isn't necessarily what I do (sorry masao). I've found many reasons to be thankful for this little epiphany. Instead of agonizing over the mistakes I've made, which is still a temptation, I try to use who I am to shape the scope of what I'm doing. It's a much more rewarding and useful mindset to encompass.
If you don't know me that well, the things I've done might or might not be of interest. But, these are the things which make up who I am. At least in part. I'll try to be brief: Football player and wrestler in High School, submariner (a 'nuke' onboard the fast attack submarine USS Cavalla SSN-684), machinist, welder, husband, dad, step-dad (almost, but not quite, the same thing...with a few more challenges), a Christian, prison guard, and most recently a cancer survivor. If we've talked no doubt you've heard me share about most of these.
By far, the most earth-shaking thing I've done is accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Whoo-boy, it can't be explained in words how one's whole perception changes!
